One extension for every text field on the web
The extension adds a small mic button to every text field you click on the web, and a keyboard shortcut that works on any page. You talk, VoiceTyping cleans up, and the finished text is inserted in place. No copying, no switching tabs.

It picks the style by the site you are on
The same sentence should not read the same in a Slack thread and in a client email. The extension sets the style for you, and you can override it per site.

Install it in two minutes
- Create your account and sign in at voicetyping.ai.
- Add the VoiceTyping extension to Chrome or Edge and pin it to the toolbar.
- Sign in from the extension popup with the same account.
- Allow the microphone the first time you dictate.
- Click into any text field, hold Alt + Shift + Space (Option + Shift + Space on a Mac) and talk.
Permissions and why we ask for them
- Microphone, to record you while you hold the shortcut or click the mic button. Nothing is recorded at any other time.
- Access to the pages you visit, to show the mic button in text fields, read which site you are on to pick the style, and insert the text where your cursor is. The extension does not read or send the content of your pages.
- Storage, to keep your settings and shortcuts in the browser.
What happens to your audio and text
Audio is processed to produce text and deleted right after transcription. It is never used to train models, and it is not sold. Your text history is encrypted at rest. You can switch history off and delete all your data in one click. Read the details on is voice typing private.
FAQ
Does the extension work in Edge as well as Chrome?
Yes. It works in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Other browsers can use the VoiceTyping web app.
Does it work in Google Docs?
Yes. Click into your document, hold the shortcut and talk. The extension picks the Document style and inserts the cleaned text at your cursor.
Can it type into desktop apps like Word or Slack for desktop?
No. The extension types into web pages. Use Word, Outlook or Slack in the browser, or dictate in the installed web app and paste the text into the desktop program.
Is the extension always listening?
No. It records only while you hold the shortcut, after you press toggle, or after you click the mic button. A red indicator shows when it is recording.
Is the extension included in every plan?
