Is voice typing private with VoiceTyping
Yes, and here is exactly how. Your audio is processed to produce text and deleted right after transcription. It is never used to train models. Your text history is encrypted at rest, you can switch history off, and you can delete all your data in one click. We do not sell your data.
From microphone to text, step by step
- 01 You start a dictation in the web app or in a text field with the extension.
- 02 Your audio travels over an encrypted connection to our speech recognition and language models.
- 03 The models turn it into text and apply AI cleanup and your chosen style.
- 04 The audio is deleted right after transcription. We do not keep recordings.
- 05 The cleaned text returns to you and is inserted where your cursor is, or shown in the web app.

The extension acts only where you start dictation
The VoiceTyping extension for Chrome and Edge adds a microphone button and a hotkey to text fields on the web. It acts only in the field where you start dictation, and only after you press the hotkey or the button. It inserts the cleaned text at your cursor.

Encryption in transit and at rest
All traffic between your device and VoiceTyping is encrypted in transit. Your text history is encrypted at rest on our servers.
History you control
History lets you find and reuse past results. On Personal it keeps 30 days. On Pro and Team history is unlimited and searchable. If you prefer, switch history off in settings, and VoiceTyping keeps no record of your results.
Delete everything in one click
One button in your account settings deletes your history, dictionary, snippets and styles. Closing your account removes your account data.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies, such as your login session and security tokens. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Read the cookie policy.
What team admins control
On the Team plan, admins manage who has a seat, assign the admin or member role and remove a member's access instantly. Shared dictionaries and shared styles are visible to the team. Service providers by category
To run VoiceTyping we rely on a small number of service providers, each bound to process data only to provide the service:
- A hosting provider for our servers and database.
- A speech and language model provider that turns audio into cleaned text.
- A payment provider that handles subscriptions and card details. We never see your full card number.
- An email delivery provider for sign-in codes and account emails.
